One price for the app.
Nothing for the CLI.
Two surfaces, two commercial answers, and no bundle in either direction. The table below is the whole of it.
| Dimension | Desktop app | CLI & agents |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Reviewing and editing every locale with the context in front of you | Terminal checks, CI gates, and a coding agent that adds keys, translates and writes through the same checks |
| How you get it | A signed download for macOS, Windows or Linux | npm install -g @stringlane/cli — one JavaScript file, Node 22+ |
| Price | One-time: $49 now, $79 after launch | Free. No key, no activation, no account |
| Trial | 14 days, the full app, no email and no card | Not applicable — there is nothing gated to try |
| Activations | 3 machines | Unlimited, including CI runners and work machines |
| AI translation | Your own provider key, or a local model. StringLane sells no credits | Your coding agent’s own model, or your own provider key for stringlane update |
| Version | 1.2.0 — updates within the major version included | 0.3.2 — versioned on its own clock, and 0.x means the command surface is not promised yet |

Pricing FAQ
The questions money raises
Does buying the desktop app give me anything on the CLI?
No, and the reverse is also no. They are separately licensed products on separate version numbers, and neither is a trial, tier or upsell of the other. The app is a one-time purchase; the CLI is free to use with no key at all, so there is nothing a licence could unlock on it. If that ever changes, it will be announced as a change rather than discovered in a renewal.
Is this a subscription?
No. The desktop app is bought once and stays yours, including every update within the major version. For comparison, Lokalise lists $144 a month at entry and $999 on its Advanced plan (checked July 2026); that bill arrives every month whether or not you opened the tool.
What does AI translation cost?
Whatever your provider charges you, billed by them directly. StringLane has no usage credits, no per-character fee and no markup, because your strings never pass through our infrastructure — there is none. Point it at a local model such as Ollama or LM Studio and the cost is zero, along with the network round trip.
What happens when the early-adopter price ends?
Nothing, for you. The price you paid is the price you paid; a licence bought at $49 keeps working, and keeps receiving updates within the major version, after the list price moves to $79.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. The 14-day trial exists so you can answer this before paying, and there is a written refund policy if the trial did not surface the problem.
